Aninat, Abogadas In-House Chile and Microsoft discuss the impact of AI on the Legal and Corporate Sector

The panel of experts included Rebeca Servin, Legal Manager at Microsoft Latam, and Gonzalo Navarro, Director of the Technology practice at Aninat Abogados. The session was moderated by Ainhoa Pozzi, Legal Vice President for Latin America at Aramark, and Sebastián Palacios, Senior Corporate Counsel at Microsoft.

Gonzalo Navarro, Director of the Technology practice at Aninat Abogados, said in his presentation: “Today, the great challenge for legal departments is understanding that AI is a powerful tool for efficiency in document processing and data analysis, but it must be used under strict security controls. Given the growing regulatory density, legal support is critical to ensuring that the use of these tools meets clients’ sensitive data protection standards, making technology a safe engine of growth for companies.”

For her part, Rebeca Servin, Legal Manager at Microsoft Latam, stressed the importance of responsible experimentation with these new tools. “Our advice to legal teams is to try things out and learn, but always being mindful that AI is not suited for critical or ethical decision-making, which remains solely the lawyer’s responsibility. It’s vital to be careful with data use, read providers’ terms and conditions, and ensure AI acts as an enabler of productive processes, without ever compromising confidentiality or the ethical standards of legal advice.”

The event drew a large turnout of lawyers from a range of companies and industries, reinforcing female leadership on cutting-edge issues. Ainhoa Pozzi, representing AIH, noted: “These panel discussions are extremely valuable for us and a key part of our agenda. It’s an opportunity to learn more about the in-house world in Latin America, as well as the firm side of the industry. We need to understand how technology and AI will affect our role as enablers of business and decision-making, while managing risk, upholding ethical standards, and maintaining trust within legal teams.”
